Even things that are less easy to steal or move sometimes require localisation. Take container companies, for example. To ensure optimum and efficient operation, localisation is no luxury. For this solution, we use an unnamed container rental company. Containers are exposed to various weather conditions, as they are mostly used outside. Therefore, a solution that can function perfectly in all weather conditions was of great importance. This solution is suitable for any type of rental company looking for an efficient and cost-effective way to locate their rental assets.
Such a rental company always has a huge number of containers in active use. This company was specifically looking for a way to map the container fleet, so that it can be deployed as efficiently as possible. Full containers obviously do not allow for new cargo to be transported, so they looked for a way to include full containers in the overview, so that they can be taken into account in the planning.
For this customer, we made the combination of a TAG.BLE and TAG.QR-NFC. This combination is a very efficient and cheap way to map the entire container fleet, as well as reports from the end user/customer. Because the containers are almost always outside, they looked for a solution that was weatherproof and could take a beating.
As the containers have to withstand different weather conditions, they were equipped with a TAG.BLE. This tag lasts 5 years and is completely waterproof. Stickers with a QR code were attached to the containers. The customer can scan this code with a smartphone, and thus send a message that the container is full and ready for collection. The person responsible for planning receives a message indicating the location of the container and which container it is. When the container arrives back at the depot, the driver opens the mobile app and the GPS coordinates are sent to the platform. This way, the location of each container is always up to date.
