Schelfhout NV is a specialist in prefabricated elements such as walls and skirting boards in industrial concrete for agricultural, commercial and industrial projects.
They deliver throughout Belgium, but also to the Netherlands, Germany, France, Great Britain, etc. The company was established in 1977, with its first production site in Kinrooi (Limburg). In the meantime, three other production sites have been added. To guarantee that the panels are delivered in perfect condition, Schelfhout uses low-loaders.
During the transport of the prefabricated concrete walls, Schelfhout uses concrete carriages in which the walls are placed in sequence in order to save time during assembly. As soon as a concrete carriage left the site of the production plant, it was no longer possible to trace its location. In addition, the delivery status of the order could not be followed, and it was therefore impossible to find out whether the delivery had been unloaded or not.
We opted for a dual solution to help Schelfhout. We used a TAG.GPS in combination with a QR/NFC tag. The TAG.GPS sends an update of the location every day via GPS, while the team on site can easily report when the concrete sled has been fully unloaded by scanning the TAG.QR-NFC.
To each concrete slide, we attached both a TAG.GPS and a TAG.QR-NFC. To prevent damage to the TAG.GPS, a cut-out has been provided for the unit in the concrete skids. Thanks to the Plexiglas casing, the tag is perfectly protected and the unit can communicate without any problems.
Every night between 01:00 and 02:00 the TAG.GPS sends out a message, so every morning you have a clear overview of the location of each concrete sled. Both users and non-users of the CHECK platform can send a report of the status (empty/loaded) via the TAG.QR-NFC. This way, everyone in the office is immediately aware of the status of the delivery, which makes planning the sledges much easier.
