TDL Building Logistics takes care of the transport and storage of all kinds of building materials, and focuses on medium-sized and large producers and traders in the building sector. Our most commonly transported materials are clinkers, pipes, vaults, jointing plates and we also take care of the transport and placement of delta blocks. They provide transport with different types of vehicles such as crane trucks, flatbed trailers, low loaders to inland trailers.
During the transport of the prefabricated concrete walls, TDL uses concrete carriages in which the walls are placed in sequence in order to save time during assembly. As soon as a concrete slide left the premises, it was no longer possible to trace its location. In addition, the delivery status of the order could not be followed, and it was therefore impossible to find out whether the delivery had been unloaded or not.
We opted for a dual solution to help TDL. We used a TAG.GPS in combination with a QR/NFC tag. The TAG.GPS sends an update of the location every day via GPS, while the team on site can easily report when the concrete slab is completely unloaded by scanning the TAG.QR-NFC.
To each concrete slide, we attached both a TAG.GPS and a TAG.QR-NFC. To prevent damage to the TAG.GPS, a cut-out has been provided for the unit in the concrete skids. Thanks to the Plexiglas casing, the tag is perfectly protected and the unit can communicate without any problems.
Every night between 01:00 and 02:00 the TAG.GPS sends out a message, so every morning you have a clear overview of the location of each concrete sled. Both users and non-users of the CHECK platform can send a report of the status (empty/loaded) via the TAG.QR-NFC. This way, everyone in the office is immediately aware of the status of the delivery, which makes planning the sledges much easier.
