The customer.

For this solution, we use as an illustration a rental company with drill bits in their range. Given their purpose, these are always exposed to the harshest working environments such as construction sites and infrastructure works, ... This solution is suitable for any type of rental company that wants to get started with monitoring and managing their assets on a modest budget.

Their challenge.

With equipment that is used on a very regular basis, after a while there are pieces that break down or need replacing. In such cases, customers call to report the damage or to request a different head for the drill bit. At that point, they want to have a quick look at what type of drill it is exactly, so they can check whether the necessary spare parts are still in stock or whether they need to be ordered.

Our solution.

Given the limited space on a drill, a compact tag was required. The TAG.QR-NFC offers the required functionality and, thanks to the adhesive strips, can easily be attached to the drill. Besides, this tag can stand a good deal. By scanning the tag, it is possible to report a broken part and the person hiring the equipment can immediately check the type of drill. The combination with TAG.VILOC forms a perfect anti-theft and localisation solution.

In practice.

A unique TAG.QR-NFC was attached to each drill bit in an accessible, non-obtrusive location using the provided adhesive strips. When scanning the tag with a smartphone, the customer can easily report what is wrong with the drill or order a different head. Thanks to this report, the rental company immediately knows what type of drill it is, and can consult the stock on the CHECK platform. This way, the rental company has a clear overview of the assets that need to be replaced, which ones need maintenance or repair, ... The TAG.VILOC helps to locate, monitor and secure the drill, and can even activate a theft alarm with the help of a geofence.
